  • Taking things for granted

According to my last post, one would assume that spring has arrived in the mountains.  Do not be deceived!  It is still very much winter.  There's over a foot of snow on the ground, and it's cold!  We've been without power at camp for 5 days now and are anticipating a couple more dark, cold days.  We don't have it as bad as we could: our house has a wood-burning stove and hot water.  But it's dark and still pretty cold.  It will be a VERY happy moment when the lights flick on for the first time in a week!

  • Wild flower hike!

Today, I accompanied Katie, Megan and Cammie for a hike through the San Juaquin River Gorge.  We went on a quest in search of the season's first wild flowers, and had great success!  I took lots more pictures of the flowers, but I figured you'd be more interested in the people.  Flowers need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.  So, without further adieu:

    San Juaquin River Gorge

    Hiking to the bridge

Eating Indian Lettuce...at least, we think that's what it's called.  It was edible anyway.

    California poppies

    Cammie and me (and Naya)

    A section of the trail

Megan was living on the edge!

    Lupine

Naya was cooling off the in creek...it was warm and she hasn't yet shed her winter coat

About half way back, we decided to hike barefoot the rest of the way...it was glorious!

As you might be able to tell, this was one of the best days I've spent in a while!

  • We're in escrow!

The house will be ours (on loan from God) in about 30 days!  Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of a home.  I hope that it will be a refuge and sanctuary for us and everyone who visits, however long their stay may be.

  • Next phase of life

Yesterday, Michael and I met with our realtor and wrote up a Purchase Agreement for a house that we both like a lot!  He submitted our offer last night, and we're now waiting to hear back from the owners of the house.  For a few days, I was a bit anxious about the whole thing because we really like this house and it's listed for a great price, and I was worried that someone would come in before us and get the house.  But the Lord has been convicting me (through a form letter that my brother sent me, as well as through a book I'm reading) that I need not worry, and today, I'm totally at peace.  If we get the house, I'll be thrilled!  But if we don't, I trust in the Lord.  There will be others.  It's been really fun to picture our life in this house and to think about what it'll be like to drive to work each day, to cook for ourselves again, and for people to not walk through our house at all hours of the day and night (a fact that I simultaneously like and dislike).  So Michael and I would appreciate your prayers through this process.  Buying a home is a big thing, and we want to make sure that the Lord is part of every step.  In case you'd like to check out the house, here's a link:
